olympus stylus 850 sw - digital camera

The Olympus Stylus 850SW is quite the tough little camera, able to absorb a drop of up to 5 feet, and still function? That’s pretty cool, especially for unsure handed folk. And if you didn’t already know, it also has ability for underwater photo taking of up to around 10 feet under water, which is a regular Olympus feature. In addition to being waterproof it is also, shockproof, freezeproof, sandproof, dustproof as well. So if you plan on taking any oceanic trips or desert trips any time soon this might be the camera for you.

Standout Features

• Digital Image Stabilization
• Face detection mode
• Shoot and Select mode

A popular feature on cameras now-a-days is the Digital Image Stabilization feature. What it does, for those of you who are unfamiliar, is basically speeds up the shutter speed as to cut down on the appearance of blurriness in your photos. Does anyone like blurry photos? I for one don’t.

Face detection mode is also a semi-popular feature for digital cameras currently, what it does is detects if the subject or subjects have faces that you are shooting and makes sure they all are in proper focus. Also works while the subjects are in motion as well.

The shoot and select mode is a really nifty feature that lets you take several shots in a short amount of time and then basically allows you to choose the ones that you’d like to keep, so it gives you plenty of options on which smile to choose.

Summary of Reviews

It seems as though all of the reviewers tested this camera on its claims of being virtually everything proof, and reading through the reviews it seems as though very few were able to prove the claims wrong. As for the consumers that reviewed the camera on the whole I think everyone felt good about their purchase and felt comfortable with the camera living up to it’s claims.

Summary

In conclusion this camera has several desirable features, and if you’re planning on using it for some rugged stuff and need a camera that will be able to stand up to pretty much everything, this is your camera.
