Canon A2000 IS

The Canon PowerShot A2000 IS is a very basic 10 megapixel camera that takes excellent photographs. It seems like with this camera Canon was trying to appeal to the more basic user, although this camera does take excellent photographs it is a little slim on the features side of things.

Standout features

6x Zoom10 MegapixelsIS (image stabilization)

The 6x zoom is definitely a considerable upgrade from the standard 4x zoom on most cameras. That is a great feature to have on your camera for those just in case moments you are bound to encounter. Just think, you’re on a cruise in the Caribbean and you see some Dolphins swimming in the distance, but your 4x zoom doesn’t quite do the job.

As I was telling you about the excellent photo quality earlier in the review, the 10 megapixels that this camera touts is a large contributor to that. This many megapixels makes for awesome colorful pictures that will capture all the colors of all the things you find worthwhile and want to remember, let’s face it no one wants a camera that doesn’t take quality photos.

Last but not least the feature so important it’s included in the product title, Image Stabilization a.k.a. IS. Image stabilization detects for movement and does exactly what it says it does, stabilizes the photo as if you were using a tripod and not your shaky right hand.

Summary of all Reviews
For the most part everyone shared the same opinion that this was an excellent choice of camera for any entry-level users, for the simple fact that it excels in the ability to point and shoot. They all thought that it was short on features and options. However, they all liked the larger than normal 6x zoom as well as the ease of use of this camera.

Summary
All in all I was impressed, although slim on the features. This camera did excel in the areas that it obviously was intended for. This is definitely a camera that I would use if I wasn’t interested in all the different effects that other more advanced cameras are capable of. The Canon PowerShot A2000 IS an excellent option for everyone looking for a sub-200 budget camera that does an excellent job.
