Samsung has a wide array of products from home appliances to luxury goods, and now adding to that is a new home theatre system called the HT-D5550.

The HT-D5550 looks sweet, but will it be apt for your living room?

The D-5550 is a 5.1 system and has some really nifty features like AllShare and Samsung’s Smart Hub. The system is Wi-Fi enabled and boasts of other features like 3D Sound Plus and Crystal Amplifier Plus. The latter is meant to filter sound distortion and noise whereas 3D Sound Plus is a built-in DPS effect generator that is meant to give you a surround 3D effect when you’re watching movies. Samsung also claims that the system can convert non-HD content to Full 1080p along with 2D to 3D via the video processor.

Smart Hub lets you share online content, mostly comprising of videos and other media, as well and Samsung has also thrown in their own app marketplace called Samsung Apps. The system also has two HDMI inputs and the HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) that allows users to connect compatible devices to process the TV’s audio signal without an optical cable.This 5.1 channel, 1000-watt home theater system has four stylish tallboy speakers and a wireless rear speaker, and has a built-in Karaoke feature, as well.

The pricing has not been mentioned yet, but we’ll give you an update as and when we know.

This is kind of like saying, walking barefoot on moss was quiet, but not walking barefoot on moss is even quieter.

While a greater contrast ratio is claimed in the spec sheets, I didn?t find there to be too much of a difference between the VW60 and VW70. There was definitely an improvement, just not the 40 percent or so they claim. Then again, all manufacturers? numbers are, shall we say, optimistic.

While the image is nicely bright, the VW70 is no flamethrower, so don?t expect it to work on 200-inch screens. Any ?normal?-sized screen for home or small home theater will be just fine.

While it?s not a big deal, there is a motorized lens cover that slides into place when you power the projector down. I?ll overlook the sandpaper-on-sandpaper noises it creates and just say that this is a great addition to minimize dust on the lens and keep oily fingers at bay.
